Avoiding Burnout

Burnout is a state of complete mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. It results in a lack of focus and enjoyment when engaging in activities you normally find meaningful. It’s easy to become burnout within your job role when your workload increases or you feel a lack of support and recognition.

As marketers, it’s essential your creativity is flowing, therefore staying on top of your workload, and making sure you have a strong support in work, is essential to not falling behind and will benefit your mental health.

Ways to deal with burnout:

 In work…

  • Have a set focus times
  • Take breaks throughout the day
  • Speak up when feeling overwhelmed
  • Promote or bring up ways to improve your workplace

Personal life…

  • Prioritise sleep
  • Self-care
  • Lean on your support system
  • Exercise- release those endorphins!
  • Have a balanced diet

Healthy Habits

Whilst we are on the topic of self-care, many roles nowadays have become remote or hybrid, increasing the number of people working from home. Having a healthy routine when working from home is beneficial to not only the quality of your work, but your well being too! Small acts such as getting up at a good time, getting dressed, having a desk or dedicated space to work in and making sure to take breaks will get you in the right headspace to be on top of your tasks.

Organisation is key to being your best recruitment marketing self, having your social calendar, reporting, and other tracking resources in Google Docs or similar software is a top tip for organising your workload. In addition, having a visual to do list, (using apps such as Trello or Monday) is a very helpful and straight forward way to be on top of tasks and organise your time efficiently.

 You got this!

We hope these resources, accounts and top tips help you manage your everyday recruitment marketing lives! It’s important to take care of yourself first so your creative juices and focus can produce top quality content.
